About

I’m Claire, an Australian writer and editor who moved to Zurich, Switzerland in 2014 after living in London for seven years. After 5.5 fantastic, creative, rewarding, tumultuous, difficult and wonderful years in Switzerland, my family (husband, 2 children) and I returned to Australia in mid 2019.

This blog started out as an expat experience blog, where I talked about the quirks and challenges of “expatting” and attempts to learn German as well as some parenting stuff.

However, during the past couple of years, I’ve been focusing more on my poems, fiction and travel-writing.

In 2017 I took on a huge (some would say crazy) project to visit each Canton of Switzerland, which resulted in the #26Cantons52Weeks blog posts.

In 2018, I had to return to full-time work so there was a dip in the blogging.

In 2019 with this big move, I have been blogging less, but I’m still trying to do a poem every week or two. I’m thinking about what might be the next direction for Clairevetica. Watch this space !

Thanks so much for reading and stopping by. I really appreciate all the likes and especially those who take time to comment. I will always try check out your blog if you like or comment on mine (even if it sometimes takes me a while).

Rock on!

  1. Just found your blog via an article on The Local. Can’t wait to read about another Zurich expat’s experience, and kudos to the 26 cantons challenge! I started one myself for hiking in the summer. 6 down, 20 to go 😀 Good luck!

    1. Thanks for stopping by and, this may sound weird, but I really appreciate you mentioning how you found me! Would love to do a hike in every canton. Maybe a new project for next year 🙂
