About

I’m Claire, an Australian writer, editor & poet who lived in Switzerland and London for more than a decade — creative, rewarding, tumultuous, difficult and wonderful years (the first 5 years of this blog cover my time in Switzerland).

My family and I returned to Australia in mid 2019.

Clairevetica began out as an expat experience blog, where I talked about the quirks and challenges of “expatting“, attempts to learn German as well as some parenting stuff. However, my focus turned more to poems, fiction and travel-writing. Including my 2017 project where I visited all 26 Cantons of Switzerland, which resulted in the #26Cantons52Weeks blogs.

Now I’m back living in my home country, watch this space for regular poems as well as links to my published short fiction and more writing news.

Thanks so much for reading and stopping by. I really appreciate your likes and comments – especially those who take time to do the latter. I will always try check out your blog if you like or comment on mine (even if it takes me a while).

I also work as a freelance writer! For more on that, visit clairedoble.com and/or contact me

  1. Hi there, I just wanted to tell you I have nominated you to take part in the ‘3 Days 3 Quote Challenge’. If you want to give it a go here is the link to mine where the rules are stated. Have fun xxx https://aballetoflife.com/2017/01/04/the-3-days-3-quote-challenge/
Ps. It’s quite a coincidence that I send you this today as I just arrived in Switzerland a few hours ago and will be performing in Basel over the weekend xx

  2. Just found your blog via an article on The Local. Can’t wait to read about another Zurich expat’s experience, and kudos to the 26 cantons challenge! I started one myself for hiking in the summer. 6 down, 20 to go 😀 Good luck!

    1. Thanks for stopping by and, this may sound weird, but I really appreciate you mentioning how you found me! Would love to do a hike in every canton. Maybe a new project for next year 🙂
